Life Lately: Food Fears

Things have been going quite well lately.  I have been greatly enjoying my time without classes.  This past week was my first with my new full time work schedule.  Working both a day job and a night shift job is a little difficult, but I think it went pretty well.

Here are a few things I have been up to lately.

I had Indian food for the first time recently.  I LOVED it.  I can’t wait to go back and get more.  I don’t know why it took me so long to give it a try.

I went to see James Morrison at the Cannery Ballroom.  This was the second time that we have seen him.  It was a great show.

This was taken while at dinner at the Wild Cow with some lovely friends. I got the black bean burger and hummus.  It was quite tasty.

I took a painting class on Friday!  This was taken at one of the middle stages of the painting.  The class was so fun! I would love to go back.

Last night I conquered my fear of sushi.  I tried it for the first time a few years ago and did not like it at all.  However, when I gave it another try last night I really enjoyed it.  I didn’t muster up the courage to try the snake roll seen at the bottom. Next time– baby steps.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend!

Thrifty Thursday (with recipe): Glass Juicer

On my birthday my mom took me to Gas Lamp Antiques to look around.  I have been wanting a glass juicer and we found one there.  The mall is huge and there are so many things to look at.

This morning I used my new juicer to make strawberry lemonade.

I used a 16 oz bag of frozen strawberries (I put the strawberries in the food processor before using in the lemonade), 8 lemons, and about 6 cups of water.

Obviously, it’s best to pour the lemon juice through a strainer to eliminate the seeds.

Add sugar to taste.

Yum.

Travel Photo Journal: Venice and Burano — Italy

Today I wanted to show you more pictures from the trip I took with my family in the summer of 2009 to Europe.  We saw so many things in just 11 days.  The two days that we spent in Venice were some of my favorites.  While there, we took a boat ride over to Burano and I fell in love with it.  Here are just a few of the photos that I took.

Venice

Burano

I know that this post is quite image heavy, but I love all of the pictures and memories that I have from this trip.  I was talking with my brother the other day about how sad I am that I do not have plans to go out of the country this summer.  While that statement is still true, I realize that I have had some amazing opportunities over the past three years with this trip, my trip to Barcelona, and the trip to Guatemala to see and experience many things.  I plan to keep this desire that I have to travel and I hope to share it with others.
